Hoffenheim transfer flop Erencan Yardımcı set for new loan

Kicker reports that Hoffenheim striker Erencan Yardımcı is set to be loaned out to Eintracht Braunschweig. The 23-year-old – one of Hoffenheim’s recent controversial purchases  – made eight Bundesliga appearances for the Sinsheimers during the second half of the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign. He spent the first half of the season on loan at the former club of TSG head coach Christian Ilzer and sporting director Andreas Schicker, SK Sturm Graz.

Hoffenheim paid €4m to acquire Yardımcı from Turkish outfit Eyüpspor Kulübü in August 2024 despite the fact that the player only held a €2m estimated valuation. Yardımcı was immediately loaned out to Sturm Graz and did raise his profile a bit with two Austrian Bundesliga goals and five Champions League substitute appearances.

In three starts under Ilzer in January and February 2025, however, Yardımcı clearly demonstrated that he wasn’t ready for the Bundesliga level. His forthcoming loan will assist Schicker in his quest to trim Hoffenheim’s absurdly large squad ahead of the new season. Thus far, the TSG personnel chief has only managed to organize a loan for Hungarian defender Attila Szalai.
