Taking centre stage in this week's instalment of Historic Goals is Ruud van Nistelrooy. The hitman checked in at Real Madrid in the summer of 2006 from Manchester United and made a name for himself as a livewire in the box with a real eye for goal.
Matchday 2 of the 2006/07 LaLiga season saw Real Madrid travel to Levante. The strike that we're reliving here is the final goal of that contest and the effort that saw the Dutchman complete his first hat-trick in a Real Madrid shirt. Cicinho slipped an inch-perfect pass into the path of Van Nistelrooy, who conjured up a subtle first-time lobbed finish to round off a comprehensive victory for the Whites. Van Nistelrooy chalked up 96 appearances for Real Madrid and found the net 64 times. His trophy haul features two LaLiga titles and a Spanish Super Cup, as well as the Pichichi Trophy he landed in his maiden season at the club.
