Bristol Rovers boss Matt Taylor believes that Aston Villa loanee Lino Sousa’s pedigree and talent is clear and will bring competition for places down the flank and in defence.

Sousa joined Aston Villa only in February from Arsenal, but has yet to get the chance to make his mark at senior level at Villa Park.

His new parent club sent him to Plymouth Argyle on loan for the second half of last season where he finished with eight Championship appearances.

Yet another move has now happened for Sousa, who is now in League One with Bristol Rovers.

Sousa’s new manager is delighted with the acquisition and believes that the teenager clearly has pedigree and talent and will bring competition for places in his team.

“We are pleased to welcome Lino to the club”, Taylor told his club’s official website.

“Lino’s pedigree and talent is clear, and he will bring more competition for places on our flank and in the defensive line.

“We are looking forward to working with him throughout the season.”

Sousa has played regularly for England’s junior teams starting from their Under-15 level.

He is eligible for both the Under-18 and Under-19 teams.
