Hibernian are interested in signing Swindon Town striker Harry McKirdy in the summer, journalist Alan Nixon has reported via Patreon.

McKirdy joined Swindon last summer following his release by Port Vale, and has made a big impact during his time at The County Ground.

The 25-year-old has scored 19 goals and provided nine assists in 38 appearances in all competitions for the Robins since the start of the campaign, helping them to 11th place in the League Two standings, four points adrift of the play-offs.

Now it seems as though that form from the striker, is starting to attract attention from elsewhere.

According to this latest update, Hibernian are now keen to sign McKirdy, who see the striker as a key signing for next season, as they look to work their way up the Scottish Premiership table.

Having signed a new contract with Swindon back in January, Hibs will have to pay a fee if they are to sign the striker when the market reopens.

it is thought that Hibernian are willing to do that, in order to secure the services of the 25-year-old, meaning they may now be set for a summer battle to secure his services.

The Verdict

It is perhaps no surprise that this sort of interest is starting to emerge in McKirdy.

The 25-year-old has been in excellent form for Swindon, both in terms of taking chances and creating them, which has proved key to the Robins’ push for promotion.

As a result, many teams are going to see him as a potential asset if they can secure his services, especially if Swindon do miss out on promotion from League Two, which could motivate McKirdy to look for a move elsewhere.

But with time remaining on his contract at the County Ground, Swindon can at least command a decent fee for the striker, and you would expect them to do just that, given how important he has been for them this season.
