Heung-min Son has downplayed any injury concerns after he appeared to pick up a knock while on international duty.

The Tottenham star scored a stunning goal as South Korea cruised to a 5-0 win over Singapore to begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in style.

However, as has often seemed to be the case with Son when playing for his country in recent months, there was an injury scare for the 31-year-old in the closing stages.

Son received treatment after going down and then limped to the sidelines, holding his right ankle before returning to the action for the final ten minutes.

The forward was able to see out the rest of the match and then walked around the pitch at full-time to wave to the fans in Seoul, suggesting the issue was not a serious one.

And Son confirmed as much after the match, providing an update that will be a source of relief for his club.

"We are making a team for the World Cup, I can't give up a game just because I feel pain," he told reporters.

"If I can't run anymore, then I can't do anything about it but when I can run, I have to give 100% for the team.

“I am fine now, I don't like to lie down [on the pitch] in the winter. At that moment [when he went down] I couldn't feel anything on my foot. I’m fine, no injury."

Son is therefore expected to be involved when South Korea face China on Tuesday, before the forward returns to London and turns his focus back to Tottenham.
