“He’s taken a mid-table team” – Fulham player explains why Chelsea man deserves POTS

A Fulham player has come out and said that one current Chelsea player should win the Player of the Season award this season, and has explained his reasoning for it.

I think the reasoning is fully justified and although I’m completely biased being a huge Chelsea fan, I completely agree with the quotes we are about to see below.

Sources: Manchester United register interest in TWO Chelsea players for a summer move!

Fulham captain Tom Cairney believes Cole Palmer deserves to be named Player of the Season this season, purely because of what he has done in a team that has often been underperforming, toxic, gloomy, and sat in mid-table most of the season. And I fully agree.

Cairney even says Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has been both the signing of the season and player of the season in the Premier League.

“Palmer is the signing of the season and player of the season,” Cairney told the Footballer’s Football podcast. “What a player.

“It was 170 minutes or something of Premier League football in his career [before he moved to Chelsea]. He gets bought for £40m, and he has put the team on his back.

“Even early in the season with those big penalties where he said ‘no, give me the ball’ at 21 years old. He’s taken a mid-table team all season and been the star man.

“What he’s done in a Chelsea shirt is more impressive than what anyone else has done in my opinion.”

Antonio also has wise words on Palmer

Co-host and West Ham United striker Michail Antonio could not separate Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Palmer as his signing of the season but has also been impressed with the impact of the now 22-year-old.

“He has had an unbelievable season,” he added.

“Everyone was like: ‘What on earth are Chelsea doing splashing £40m on someone who isn’t even proven in the Premier League? He’s proved you don’t need to be proven.”
