Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has waxed lyrical about his compatriot Min-hyeok Yang, who is set to join the club this week.

Spurs completed a deal to sign the teenage sensation from South Korean top-flight runners-up Gwangwon FC in July.

He will be available to play for Spurs once the transfer window opens in January, but he is already getting acquainted with his new surroundings.

Yang flew to London earlier today after the conclusion of the K-League 1 season and is set to start training with Ange Postecoglou’s first team once his work permit is sorted.

The 18-year-old will further reinforce the second-best attacking side in the Premier League, with Postecoglou’s beleaguered troops still hoping to clinch a top-four finish.

Tottenham talisman Son is anticipating the arrival of his ‘fantastic’ compatriot but has warned supporters and the media against piling the pressure on the teenage sensation.

“I don’t want people to get too excited,” Son told Standard Sport. “There’s not any pressure [on him].

“He’s a similar age to Mikey Moore. Everyone loves Mikey, and when Yang is here I hope everyone loves him like Mikey.

“He’s been fantastic in his first season in the K-League, scored 12 goals and a lot of assists. He’s bright. He’s not scared.

“He’s a very bright player, so I’m excited he’s coming here, and I’ll try to help him as much as I can.

“But we just have to avoid putting pressure on him. The football side is the most important thing for him [to focus on].”

Yang netted 12 goals and provided six assists for Gwangwon during the recently completed season.

He is the youngest player to score a goal in the K League 1 and was voted the division’s young player of the year.
