FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta has suggested that the protracted arrival of Kylian Mbappé (25) at Real Madrid could destroy their dressing room, reports Mundo Deportivo.
In a not so subtle jibe at his club’s bitter rivals, who currently lead La Liga by eight points, Laporta questioned what effect Mbappé would have on the Madrid dressing room and whether Carlo Ancelotti’s side would have to sell players to make room for him:
“I don’t envy Madrid, not at all. Furthermore, we still don’t know if he’ll sign there. We’ll see.. They’ve got a problem there. They’ll have to sell in order to get him, won’t they? They won’t be able to play Mbappé and Vinicius in the same position, will they? And let’s not speak about the numbers being quoted.. that’ll destroy the changing room, I’m sure.”
Whilst clearly mischievous in nature, the Barcelona President’s declarations do raise the issue of what would happen to Vinicius Junior should Mbappé sign as expected, but that is a problem for the summer, and definitely not for Joan Laporta.
