Manchester United have brilliantly addressed their creative woes by handing two wide playmakers to Ruben Amorim.

Both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are coming off influential seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford, respectively. Now they are expected to play together behind the striker in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

However, United are still without a reliable goalscorer to make the most of their creativity, and the pursuit of a new number nine hasn’t gone as planned so far.

United have shown interest in the likes of Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, and Hugo Ekitike. Delap has already joined Chelsea, Ekitike has agreed to play for Liverpool, and Gyokeres is waiting for Arsenal.

It has been widely reported that Victor Osimhen is open to joining United. However, the Nigerian is not willing to significantly reduce his wage demands for a dream move to Old Trafford.

Galatasaray win Osimhen race

Amid the situation, Galatasaray have shown a great desire to retain Osimhen’s services. He spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan in Istanbul, netting 37 goals in all competitions.

Now, it is being reported that the Turkish giants are set to sign the Nigeria international ahead of United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray have agreed a deal worth €75 million with Napoli for the elite striker’s services.

The Italian journalist took to X and wrote: “Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray, here we go! Club to club documents exchange to start in next 24h after verbal pact.

“Galatasaray will pay €40m now, €35m in one year, 10% on future profit and also a goals based bonus.”

A frustrating situation for Amorim

Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray might frustrate Amorim, as there aren’t many top strikers available on the market.

United’s financial predicament has further complicated their search. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United want to sell Rasmus Hojlund before making a concrete move for a new striker.

A number of Serie A clubs, including Juventus, are interested in the Denmark international.
