"He Must Prove Himself": Amorim Drops Cold Verdict on United Youngster
Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim's revealed why Kobbie Mainoo hasn't featured in the opening 2 Premier League matches this season despite being named on the bench against Arsenal & Fulham.
In United’s 1 - 1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage, Amorim preferred Manuel Ugarte over Mason Mount in the 2nd half to strengthen midfield balance alongside Bruno Fernandes.
Even after Fulham equalised through Emile Smith Rowe, Mainoo was overlooked as Amorim made late defensive changes introducing Harry Maguire & Ayden Heaven.
"Right now he's competing with Bruno for his spot. When I shifted the midfield shape into two, I kept Mount because we needed to score. Later I felt the team required holding midfielder next to Bruno. That’s why Mainoo must fight for his place as is expected at Man United"
