Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has began light running as he battles against the clock to be fit for the Champions League final.
His side face Liverpool in Madrid on 1 June, a game Kane is desperate to make it back for after missing both semi-final games against Ajax.
He has been sidelined for Mauricio Pochettino’s men since early April, when he sustained substantial ligament damage to his left ankle during the Champions League clash with Manchester City.
The Guardian report that the 25-year-old resumed light running in training this week as he steps up his rehabilitation.
It is anticipated that he will soon start ball work before moving on to sprinting next week in a bid to prove his fitness to the club’s medical staff.
The Madrid date with Liverpool isn’t the only game that Kane is keen to take part in after making a recovery from his ankle issue.
He will also reportedly be named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for their Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands, a game he is also eager to play a part in.
That comes just five days after the Wanda Metropolitano final.
