Hansi Flick praised his Bayern Munich side for their first-half performance in the win over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday but insisted that there is still work to be done.
The Bundesliga champions comfortably beat the newly-promoted side 4-1 thanks to braces from Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller.
Bayern took the foot off the gas in the second half with Flick unhappy that his side didn’t keep up the tempo throughout.
Speaking post-match, the 55-year-old said: “”The first half was close to what we want.
“But we had about five minutes where we were too careless. I’m not pleased about that and that made our lives somewhat difficult.”
Lewandowski’s double means the Pole now has seven goals in his first four games so far this season.
“For me, Thomas Müller with Robert Lewandowski were our two best players in the match.
“Of course we can defend better than we did, but we’re also missing some training sessions.
“It will be a challenge, but there is no other option and for that reason we’ll take it.”
The Bavarians kick off the defence of their European crown against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday.
