Bayern Munich might not be the champions but they’re still their clinical best after a 5-1 win over Union Berlin.

Fighting for top-flight survival, Union Berlin were initially on the front foot with Brenden Aaronson and Lucas Tousart leading the charge.

However, Bayern eventually shook off their slow start and put on a clinic with Harry Kane registering a personal best.

Leon Goretzka opened the scoring with a shot off the crossbar and in before Kane doubled things with a stunning free kick from 25 yards.

Bayern’s confidence then increased after the break. The hosts, in comparison, looked more and more deflated after each goal with goalkeeper Frederik Rønnow fuming.

Thomas Müller bagged a brace with a volley at the back post and looping header for Bayern’s fifth.

Mathys Tel also found the net in between Müller’s celebrations after Kane sent him a perfect through ball.

The goal and the assist means the Englishman has reached a total of 51 goal involvements in all competitions this season.

Not only does that go down as his personal best, but he now leads the charts across Europe’s top five leagues moving ahead of one Kylian Mbappé.

There was a moment of consolation for the hosts in the dying moments, though.

Substitute Yorbe Vertessen was allowed to drive into the box and let a shot fly, seeing Manuel Neuer the one fuming this time.

It’s a strong showing for second-place Bayern as they look ahead to the Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Union Berlin, meanwhile, are 14th in the table and will desperately need to wash this result off quickly if they want to stay up.
