Despite announcing the arrival of Joan Garcia this summer, Barcelona are in desperate need of fresh sales in order to bring in revenue.

The club are in a difficult economic spot once again and would need the fresh revenue to fund a move for newer transfer targets.

That is why it won’t be surprising to see Barça prepare for at least one big departure this summer. And lately, Fermin Lopez has emerged as a potential candidate.

The Spanish international has attracted some of the best clubs in the world after yet another impressive campaign and would fetch significant money in the market.

Hansi Flick is determined to keep Fermin

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Fermin Lopez is not going anywhere.

The player himself is determined to succeed at his boyhood club and has no intention of leaving, a stance that is now firmly backed by none other than Hansi Flick.

The Barcelona coach is the biggest advocate for keeping Fermin at the club. Flick sees the energetic midfielder as having a completely different and valuable profile compared to the other players in his squad and is unwilling to part ways with him.

This backing proved crucial when Barcelona recently rejected a proposal from Chelsea, which would have seen Christopher Nkunku move to the Camp Nou in a swap deal.

Beyond Chelsea, major European clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation.

Yet, with a contract until 2029 and a €500 million release clause, Barça hold a strong position.

Therefore, unless Barcelona desperately need to make another big-money sale, it is unlikely Fermin’s exit will be considered anytime soon.
