The recent La Liga clash between Barcelona and RCD Mallorca allowed Hansi Flick to give some players their debuts. Moreover, the team even ended up winning the game dominantly. Unfortunately, the experience was not the same for everyone.

While Joan Garcia had a great debut, one that even involved getting kicked in the face, another player’s debut was a bit more complicated. Unlike Garcia, summer arrival Marcus Rashford had to come into the game as a substitute and had to adjust accordingly.

As highlighted by SPORT, when the English forward entered the game, Mallorca was already in a state of sitting deep and defending pragmatically. Since they had already conceded two red cards, Mallorca did not exactly welcome Rashford into an open game.

Moreover, Rashford still needs time to adjust to both Barça’s way of playing and La Liga in general. Still, he managed to complete 10 out of the 11 passes he attempted, which translates to a 91% pass success rate. Furthermore, he gave two key passes as well.

However, it was still a rather contained and limited debut, and even Hansi Flick acknowledged that the state of the game impacted his first official game for the club. Fortunately, he will get many more opportunities to shine, and he will likely end up adapting better to the team as time passes.
