Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Saturday confirmed the imminent return to action of a sidelined member of his squad.
The player in question? Ansu Fati.
Wide-man Ansu was of course dealt his latest fitness setback earlier this summer.
As much came upon the 21-year-old limping out of training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, with an unspecified foot problem.
Following a round of medical tests, it was revealed that Ansu was dealing with a bout of plantar fasciitis.
He has remained on the sidelines ever since, no doubt chomping at the bit to get back on the pitch, to play his part in what has been a stellar start to the campaign on the part of his teammates.
And, as alluded to above, if the latest comments on the part of his manager are anything to go by, then as much now looks as good as imminent.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Girona on Sunday, Hansi Flick was asked for the latest on Ansu’s fitness.
And the German went on to confirm that, though tomorrow looks set to come too soon, the attacker’s return to group training means that he could be in contention to feature against AS Monaco in the Champions League next week:
“Ansu? We are happy to have him back. He could be back next game. We also have to take into account Gavi who has been training with us. I see them in good spirits. Gavi could be back a little bit later, but Fati could be back next week.”
