Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an insight into his decision to drop Jules Koundé from his most recent line-up.
Barcelona are of course fresh off securing their place back at the top of the La Liga table, on Monday night.
After welcoming Rayo Vallecano to Catalunya’s capital, a solitary goal on the part of Robert Lewandowski proved enough to guide the Blaugrana to all three points.
The aforementioned Koundé, for his part, was the one surprise absence from Hansi Flick’s XI for the clash, forced to make do with a spot on the bench.
This came amid reports of the Frenchman having been late to the pre-match team talk.
Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s latest victory, the subject of as much was therefore put to Barca’s headmaster himself.
And Flick was not shy in confirming:
“Koundé? He was late. That’s why he didn’t start today. It’s a matchday. Before the match, I have 2 or 3 meetings… It’s not too difficult to be on time. Koundé was late, it’s a clear rule and it can’t happen!”
