Club Brugge were unable to finish their last home game of the season with a win, so Hans Vanaken was utterly disappointed.
“We've done everything to keep the three points home and had plenty of chances to do so. It was a game that could have gone our way as well", the captain reflects on the game. "We had a chance to break the deadlock through Romeo, but seconds later it's Genk that gets the first goal after a miscommunicion in our defence. Despite all that, Genk didn't really impress me. Especially in the second half, I thought we were the better side. But still, all that matters is the final score, eventhough I feel we deserved it more. It is unfortunately something we've experienced before during these Play-Offs."
When asked who will win the title, Vanaken refrained from naming a team: "There are three teams who can win it, so anything is posible. But just like against Antwerp and Genk today, we also want to give it our all next week against Union and play our part. This is what everyone, and certainly our supporter expect from us."
On a personal level, Hans Vanaken scored his fourth goal in five Play-Off matches. "It is indeed an equaling of my stats, but it's nothing more than that. I don't get any satisfaction from it because our season as a whole was disappointing. Being Club Brugge you always have to be in the title race until the end and that's not the case." (MV)
