Gus Poyet is back in Europe and back in a job.
The Uruguayan resigned from his post as manager of Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua in September and has been out of work since.
But the former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder was named Bordeaux boss on Saturday.
The French club sacked Jocelyn Gourvennec this week after a poor run of results.
For Poyet, the appointment is his sixth as a first-team manager, having previously worked at Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunderland, AEK Athens, Real Betis and Shanghai Shenhua.
The news comes on the heels of Bordeaux’s 1-0 win over Nantes earlier in the day.
The resulted moved them up to 11th in the table but Poyet will know he still has much work to do it he hopes to restore Bordeaux to their prior status as one of France’s top teams.
