‘A real pleasure to see Paul’ – Olivier Giroud looking forward to Paul Pogba reunion in Ligue 1

Speaking at his official unveiling as a Lille OSC player, Olivier Giroud (38) expressed his excitement at returning to Ligue 1 — and his delight at seeing former France teammate Paul Pogba (31) back on French soil.
Giroud, who signed a one-year deal with Les Dogues after a final MLS appearance with Los Angeles FC, was in high spirits as he addressed the press at Domaine de Luchin. Asked about Pogba’s signing for AS Monaco, Giroud offered glowing praise for the former Juventus midfielder. “It’s a real pleasure to see Paul back in Ligue 1! It’s really positive for the league when internationals, even former ones, choose to return. It shows that Ligue 1 remains an attractive and enjoyable league to play in.”Giroud and Pogba were both key figures in France’s 2018 World Cup-winning squad. In the 2018 World Cup, they started together in six of France’s seven matches, including the final won 4–2 over Croatia — Pogba scored in the final, and Giroud, while not scoring, completed 80 minutes and contributed significantly by linking up play. iroud earned 137 caps for France between 2011 and 2024, scoring 57 goals, making him the all‑time top scorer for Les Bleus.GFFN | George Boxall
