Guatemala-Panama headlines third matchday of W Futsal Championship

MIAMI – The Group Stage of the 2025 Concacaf W Futsal Championship is set to deliver more action in Groups A and B on Wednesday at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Costa Rica, Panama, the United States and Mexico collected their first points in the opening day of the group stage. Teams will be back on the court on Wednesday, with each seeking to strengthen their position prior to the final group encounters.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the semifinals. The two finalists will represent Concacaf at the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup.
Group A
Mexico vs. Cuba
Mexico meets Cuba, with the latter needing a victory to remain alive in the race for the top two.
After earning a 7-2 win over hosts Guatemala, Mexico will seek to strengthen its lead in the group with a second consecutive victory. El Tricolor matched the best offensive output in the competition, co-leading with USA on seven team goals, thanks players like Rosa Aguilar and Evelyn Gonzalez, both of which collected a brace.
Cuba will look to rebound after a 6-2 loss to Panama. Yarianna Zunzunequi and Katheryn Rodriguez scored for Las Leonas del Caribe, who will look to get back in the race for the Futsal World Cup qualification.
Panama vs. Guatemala
Panama is coming off a 6-2 win against Cuba. Ariadna Abadia and Kenia Rangel each got a brace in the victory, with Maritza Escartin, and Estefania Salas also writing their names on the scoresheet.
Guatemala was unable to complete the comeback in their debut, falling 7-2 to Mexico. The hosts will seek to rally behind its home crowd to recover and get back in the thick of things. Andrea Chajon and Grecia Santizo delivered the goals in the opening match and will seek to increase their tallies.
Group B
Canada vs. Honduras
Canada and Honduras will kick off the matchday as both nations look to get their first points of the campaign.
Canada is coming off a 3-2 loss to Costa Rica in an effort that came short of a comeback. Players like Esther Brossard, Joëlle Gosselin, and Shayla He helped The Canucks to their first goals of the campaign.
Honduras will seek to rebound from a 7-nil loss against the United States to start its group stage campaign. La H will play its third straight match following a thrilling 6-5 extra time win over Nicaragua in the Play-In round on Monday.
United States vs. Costa Rica
The United States and Costa Rica meet in a battle for the top spot in Group B after both nations kicked off the group stage with a win on Tuesday.
Costa Rica came from behind against Canada to win 3-2 in their W Futsal Championship debut. Showing up for Las Ticas on the scoresheet were players like Yerlin Varela, Roxiny López and Mariela Alfaro.
The United States delivered a complete performance in their 7-nil win against Honduras, collecting the only clean sheet of the tournament so far and co-leading with Mexico with seven collective goals. Sarah Martin was one of the players that took the spotlight with a hat-trick for The Stars and Stripes.
