Good news for Barça: Andreas Christensen prepares his return

Andreas Christensen could be close to returning to the dynamic of Barça. The Dane could be medically discharged in the next few days and become a kind of ‘winter signing’ for the Catalan club. Everything indicates that he will probably not yet be included in the squad for next Monday’s match (21.00 hours) against Rayo Vallecano, but he will be available for the next game, the visit to UD Las Palmas on 22 February

The Danish central defender got off to a bad start to the season, playing only in the first game against Valencia. He later dropped out during the week of training. The recovery was long and when he was finally back with the group, the Barça player again suffered an injury during training and was unable to play again. This season he has only played 26 minutes

His new injury was one of the reasons that stopped the player from having several options to go out on the winter market. And the fact is that Christensen had interest from Saudi Arabia, as well as from some European clubs to go out on the winter market, but his physical problems stopped the operation. The center back, whose contract ends in 2026, is of interest and has the door open to leave as Hansi Flick has sufficient players after the renewal of Araujo and Andreas has a secondary role within the club. Barça needs to make sales if it wants to adjust its fair play and be able to make signings

Now, the Dane is stepping up his work to make himself available, although Flick has set a condition for his return. The Barça coach will only field him if he is 100%. He doesn’t want another relapse from a player the German coach has always spoken highly of. His solidity and experience could be key in a demanding final stretch, with Barça fighting in the league, Champions League and Copa del Rey.
