Alex Bruce believes Matty Cash could be a good signing for West Ham after the defender told Nottingham Forest he wants a move this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Hull and Kilmarnock defender suggested that the 23-year-old is “frustrated” at the City Ground and a transfer could suit all parties.

Bruce has lauded Cash’s form in the second tier of English football and suggests he could be a welcome addition to the squad at the London Stadium.

Asked if the Forest man was the answer to bolster the right-back spot in east London, Bruce told Football Insider: “Potentially – he’s been very good in the Championship over the last few years.

“He’ll be frustrated that Nottingham Forest dropped out of those play-off spots last season and it might be an opportunity for him to get into the Premier League.

“It could be a good deal all round, it just depends on whether Forest let him go.”

Cash has a total of 141 appearances under his belt for Forest having come through the youth ranks at the club.

He played 42 times in the Championship last season with three goals and five assists to his name.
