INEOS Out: A Club on the Brink – Mark Goldbridge Sounds the Alarm

Manchester United’s latest defeat to Tottenham has once again exposed the deep-rooted issues at the club, but if you were expecting Mark Goldbridge to focus on individual errors or managerial decisions, think again. On The United Stand Podcast, Goldbridge delivered an impassioned and brutal takedown of what he sees as the real culprits behind United’s decline—INEOS and the Glazers.

With frustration boiling over, Goldbridge and the contributors to the show left no stone unturned in their dissection of United’s latest failure, making it clear that protests against individual players or tactical decisions miss the point entirely.

Man Utd is Sinking – And INEOS is No Lifeboat

“This football club is sinking before your eyes,” Goldbridge declared. “It’s not a [Garnacho] miss or a [Diogo Dalot] mistake at the back post—this has been happening for years.” The message was clear: Manchester United’s problems run deeper than poor performances on the pitch.

Goldbridge likened the club’s trajectory to a catastrophe: “I just saw Kate Winslet go floating past. This is Titanic 2—the sequel. We are sinking. Iceberg dead ahead—no, we’ve hit the iceberg! We are sinking now.” His analogy wasn’t just for effect; it was a warning that the club is on the verge of collapse unless something drastic changes.

For Goldbridge, the core issue is ownership. “INEOS are responsible. They are keeping the Glazers in power. They had the chance to put money into this club, but they didn’t,” he raged. “We are sitting here with kids on the bench who aren’t ready, and yet INEOS’ name is printed on those empty seats. They could have put that sponsorship money into a striker, but instead, we’re left with nothing.”

Blaming Players? That’s Missing the Bigger Picture

A common post-match reaction among United fans has been to point fingers at individual performances, something Goldbridge was quick to shut down. “The amount of people going after [Alejandro Garnacho] on social media is hilarious,” he scoffed. “So what’s your plan, then? You don’t want to pick Garnacho? Who else do we have? They got rid of [Marcus Rashford] and [Antony] and didn’t replace them.”

This, according to Goldbridge, is the cycle that has repeated itself for over a decade. “Are we actually going to waste time again sacking another manager, blaming a load of players? Or are we actually going to look at the people who actually matter?”

He pointed to Spurs’ ability to bring quality players off the bench despite an injury crisis: “They’re bringing on Brennan Johnson, Sarr, Bissouma—we’ve got nothing.” The implication was obvious: INEOS and the Glazers have not invested sufficiently in squad depth, and fans are paying the price.

INEOS Has No Plan for Success—Only Profit

One of Goldbridge’s biggest concerns is the long-term vision of the club under INEOS. “The Glazers have always used United to make money,” he explained. “They put the club up for sale, then didn’t want to sell. Instead, they bring in [Sir Jim Ratcliffe], sell 28%, and stay put. Why? Because they still think they can make money.”

Goldbridge speculated that United’s current trajectory is not an accident but a calculated move. “They are in this for the long run. They think they can make a fortune from the regeneration of Old Trafford and the surrounding land. But that doesn’t help us now, does it?”

For him, the clear conclusion is that United are being run as a business venture, not a football club: “INEOS saved the Glazers, and here we are again. If they hadn’t stepped in, the Glazers wouldn’t still be here. Instead of strengthening in January, they pocketed the wages from Rashford and Antony’s loans. They chose not to invest.”

The results are predictable, and Goldbridge didn’t mince his words. “What are the chances of us winning the FA Cup in our current form? None. Europa League? None. We had a chance in January to save the season, and they did nothing.”

What Can Fans Do? Goldbridge’s Call to Action

For all the anger, Goldbridge wasn’t just venting—he wants action. “This is why I think The Man United Supporters Trust, The 1958, and this community need to step up,” he urged. “We are not just a plaything for you to make a few million in the future—we are a football club.”

He dismissed the idea of peaceful negotiation. “You can’t talk to them. It’s gone past talking. We need protests. We need movements targeting brands and financial earnings.”

His belief is that only financial pressure will work: “Some will say that damages the club, but so what? I’d take relegation if it meant getting rid of the Glazers and INEOS.” The situation, as he sees it, is that Manchester United will only continue to deteriorate. “Next season, Chelsea will be stronger, Arsenal will be stronger, Liverpool will be stronger. We will be weaker. We don’t have the money, and we won’t be in Europe.”

“INEOS Out” Is More Than a Hashtag—It’s a Necessity

As the podcast wrapped up, Goldbridge hammered home his ultimate message. “I am backing the manager. I am backing the team. But I am not backing what’s going on around it. INEOS and the Glazers have taken on water for years, and now we’re fast-tracking to the bottom.”

His warning was clear: the distraction game is coming. “Be wary. Be very, very wary of the media, social media, and the movement against [Ruben Amorim]. It’s coming, thick and fast. Why? Because INEOS and the Glazers need a scapegoat, and they’ve been dividing this fanbase for 20 years.”

As long as INEOS remains, Goldbridge fears the club is doomed. “They are sinking this club like an iceberg.” The question is: will United fans finally rally against the real enemy, or will the cycle repeat once again?
