Blackburn Rovers thrashed Cardiff City on Saturday as one of the surprise results in the latest round of fixtures.

It was a convincing win for Tony Mowbray’s side as they put Cardiff to the sword meaning they’ve eight points from 12 since the return from the international break.

Blackburn took the lead through Sam Gallagher before Ben Brereton-Diaz got the second just past the half-hour mark. He then grabbed his second and Blackburn’s third for the day, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Blackburn didn’t show any sign of slowing down either as Tyrhys Dolan grabbed a fourth before Sean Morrison scored a consolation goal for the Bluebirds.

But it was Stoke-born Chilean international Brereton-Diaz who stole the headlines as he rounded the day off with a hat trick from the penalty spot.
