Go-Ahead Eagles have announced the signing of Julius Dirksen from FC Emmen. The 21-year-old defender has signed a deal with the club for the next three seasons, with an option for an extra year. Dirksen only spent one and a half seasons with FC Emmen before making the switch to the Eredivisie. He was a key player for the side in their promotion push last season which ultimately fell short during the play-offs.

Dirksen has spent time in there different academies of Eredivisie clubs. He spent time with both the FC Twente and PEC Zwolle youth academies before moving over to Ajax. The defender went through the youth system and played for the Dutch youth sides up to U19 level. Over a year and a half with FC Emmen he made 68 appearances across both the Eredivisie and the Dutch second tier.

Last season Go-Ahead won the European play-offs and will face Brann in the Europa Conference League second qualifying round, with the first leg on the 25th of July in the Netherlands.
