The Glazer family have ‘no plans’ to sell Manchester United despite protests from the club’s supporters inside Old Trafford on Sunday.

United’s Premier League fixture with Liverpool was postponed on safety grounds following protests from the Red Devils’ supporters, with around 100 fans entering the stadium and invading the pitch in a demonstration against the club’s controversial ownership.

The owner’s involvement in proposals for a European Super League has increased the anger amongst the fanbase once again, the latest protests part of a long-standing campaign to oust the American owners from power.

The Glazers purchased the club in a heavily-leveraged takeover 16 years ago and have since overseen a period of decline, saddling the Red Devils with huge debts and draining finances from one of world football’s most lucrative clubs.

Despite the latest protests, the Guardian are reporting the Glazers have ‘no plans’ to sell their majority stake in the club and are making plans to turn United into a $10bn (£7bn) business, more than doubling the most recent valuation of £3.05bn.

The news comes despite plans for further protests, with the Red Devils possessing three more home fixtures before the end of the Premier League season, facing Leicester, Fulham and the rearranged clash with Liverpool.

The Glazer family have also received an open letter from MUST (Manchester United Supporters Trust) with the fan group outlining their demands to move forward, urging Joel Glazer to engage with supporters in a bid to move forward.

The letter includes a four-point plan of action, including calling on the Glazers to ‘openly engage and promote the government initiated fan-led review’ of football club ownership in a bid to rebalance power in favour of the supporters.

The plan also demands the appointment of directors who serves in the club’s best interests and consultation with season ticket holders on any ‘significant changes’ involving the future of the club, following the fall-out from the collapsed European Super League.

MUST have demanded a public response from Joel Glazer by Friday, in what is hoped could be a major breakthrough with a self-serving ownership that have watched on and benefitted as the club’s own fortunes have deteriorated.
