Glasgow City and Aberdeen both had to come from behind to book their places in the Scottish Gas Women’s Cup semi-finals.
Boroughmuir Thistle 0-3 Motherwell St. Johnstone 1-4 Aberdeen Rangers 2-0 Spartans Hearts 2-3 (aet) Glasgow City
Nicole Kozlova got the opener for Glasgow City but Bayley Hutchison scored either side of the break to give Hearts the lead. Lisa Forrest forced extra time with an 80th-minute equaliser and City were a player up after a second caution for Hearts’ Lizzie Waldie. The visitors then took advantage as Kimberley Smit turned in the decider from a corner.
Spartans held Rangers to a goalless first half but Camille Lafaix came off the bench to break the deadlock and Kirsty Howat scored a second goal for the holders.
SWPL 2 side St Johnstone threatened an upset at home to Aberdeen, with an early goal by Elvie McLean. Holly McEvoy quickly headed the Dons level, then a Toni-Leigh Finnegan double and Kerry Beattie effort sealed the top-flight side’s progress.
Motherwell went through at Boroughmuir Thistle, Louisa Boyes putting the higher-ranked team ahead, a quickfire double followed as Katie Rice’s corner went straight in and Gill Inglis completed the scoring before the break.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made live on BBC Scotland at half-time during coverage of the men’s Cup tie between Livingston and Johnstone on Monday evening.
