Girona star to miss season opener vs Rayo Vallecano | OneFootball

A leading member of the attacking ranks at Girona is set to sit out the club’s opening fixture of the new campaign.

The player in question? Cristhian Stuani.

Girona, like the rest of Spanish football’s top-flight clubs, are of course currently in the thick of final preparations for a return to action this weekend.

The Blanquivermells have been pencilled in for an opening day meeting with Rayo Vallecano, at the Estado Montilivi.

Manager Míchel in turn took his place in front of the media on Thursday.

And during his first press conference of the 2025/26 campaign, the Spanish tactician revealed that the aforementioned Stuani will be unavailable for selection to face Rayo:

“Stuani has a personal issue and couldn’t train today, and he won’t be available for tomorrow’s match. He will explain the reasons himself.”

A further update on the situation is expected over the days ahead.
