The latest comments on the part of Girona loanee Yan Couto have turned heads across Spain on Friday evening.
This comes after the defender admitted that he is very much open to the prospect of a future move to Real Madrid.
Couto, for his part, has of course proven one of the star contributors to the remarkable campaign being enjoyed by La Liga high-flyers Girona.
All told, across 28 appearances to date, the Brazilian has racked up one goal and a head-turning seven assists.
Such production is understood to have piqued the attentions of a number of Spanish football’s top clubs, with the aforementioned Real Madrid viewing Couto as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
Speaking in an interview with Catalunya Radio on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of linking up with Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded squad was put to the 21-year-old himself.
And Couto could not hide his excitement in his response, explaining:
“Yes, yes. If they are interested it is an option, I will not lie to you.”
From here, though, the 21-year-old was also keen to reiterate his commitment to the cause at Premier League champions Manchester City, Couto’s parent club:
“I’m a City player. I have a contract there and it’s my dream to play there.”
