Manchester City open to selling 21-year-old rising star

Manchester City are open to selling rising star Yan Couto this summer, after a standout season at Girona in La Liga. The Brazilian full-back has been a constant threat for the Catalans, and a reason they’ll be playing Champions League football next season.

As Matteo Moretto has revealed to Football España, Couto’s situation remains open as things stand, and it is too early to rule anything out. However after a two-year loan at Girona, Manchester City are unlikely to work him into the first team dynamics unless something changes. More likely is that Couto is sold, or he could even return to Girona for a fourth campaign in five years, although it remains unclear if City will be able to loan players to Girona next season, due to the latter’s presence in the Champions League.

Couto has appeared in 34 out of 38 La Liga games this season, racking up 10 assists over the course of the La Liga campaign, making him the joint-third most effective provider in Spain behind Alex Baena of Villarreal and Nico Williams of Athletic Club. He also earned his first call-up to the Brazil team, and now has three caps – if City do sell him, he should fetch a good price.
