La Liga outfit Girona have identified a departing member of the defensive ranks at Catalan neighbours Barcelona as a potential summer signing.
That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Marcos Alonso as the player in question.
Defender Alonso, for his part, is all set to bring a close to the Barcelona chapter of his career later this month.
As much comes with the former Chelsea man’s contract set to expire, and the Camp Nou brass having long made clear that they have no intention of affording him fresh terms.
Alonso, as a result, will soon be forced to seek out a new club.
And one such option could be coming the way of the 33-year-old, in the very same city which he currently calls home.
As per the aforementioned Relevo, Girona have identified Alonso as a low-risk, high-reward target.
The Blanquivermells are on the lookout for reinforcements at left-back, amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of the in-demand Miguel Gutiérrez.
Also keen on adding further experience to boss Míchel’s squad ahead of their first-ever season in the Champions League, a contract offer to Alonso, as a result, is being taken into serious consideration.
