Genoa boss Alberto Gilardino had no complaints about his team’s performance following their 1-0 defeat to Roma in the Coppa Italia.
A superb goal from Paulo Dybala in the second half was all it took to eliminate the Serie B side. It was also the first defeat Genoa suffered in their previous five fixtures in all competitions.
“Obviously it’s normal to be upset with the result, but I’m content,” he told the media in his post-match press conference.
“We knew we were coming here to face a strong team that’s well structured and very effective at set pieces. We had to be careful and I thought we were.”
He added, “I asked the lads to concentrate tonight and they did as I asked, it’s just a shame about the final result. A player with Dybala’s qualities was required to solve the match, so I can’t be too upset.”
