Centre-back Gil is on his was to Corinthians, according to GlobeEsporte.com.
The 32-year-old played his last game for Chinese-side Shandong Luneng on June 30, where he captained his team to a 2-0 win over Beijing Sinobo Guoan.
According to the Brazilian outlet, Gil is on his way to Rio de Janeiro, where he will spend a few days, and will then head to São Paulo, where he is expected to sign with Corinthians.
Gil will sign a three-year deal with Corinthians next week and is expected to become an immediate starter at the club.
This will be a homecoming for Gil, who played for Corinthians from 2013 until 2016, where he won the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2015.
Gil played in 15 Super League matches for Luneng this season, starting every single game, and scoring in two matches.
