Greenwood, for his part, has enjoyed a fine season to date at the Estadio Coliseum.

Afforded something of a 2nd chance by Getafe, Greenwood has fully repaid the faith of the Azulones, to the tune of seven goals and five assists across 25 appearances to date.

In fact, so impressive have his performances been, that they are understood to have piqued the attentions of the powers that be at both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.

Despite his legal troubles, Greenwood, as a result, could well find himself a man in demand in Spain this summer.

Speaking to the media on Saturday evening, the subject of his side’s plans for the Englishman beyond the conclusion of his loan at the season’s end was in turn put to Getafe chief Ángel Torres.

And the Spaniard went on to confirm that the board at the Estadio Coliseum have already come to the decision to pursue an extended stay for Greenwood:

“We are willing to make a big effort for Greenwood,” Torres told Movistar, as cited by Diario AS. “Because he deserves it.”
