Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium have announced a joint bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
In a strong announcement video, the footballing rivals state an ambition to join together as potential co-hosts.
Germany hosted the 2011 World Cup, while the 2017 Euros took place in the Netherlands.
“Women’s football in our countries is indeed in differing phases of development, but we share the aspiration to give the sport a boost nationally and globally by organising this World Cup,” the countries said in a statement.
The next World Cup, scheduled to take place in 2023, will be hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
