George Johnston reacts to Bolton Wanderers’ drop-off in form after Sunderland loss | OneFootball

George Johnston is trusting the process at Bolton after back to back league defeats.

The 23-year-old remains positive and confident Ian Evatt’s ideas can steer the team back in the right direction in the coming weeks, he explained when he spoke to The Bolton News.

He said: “There’s no wavering.

“We just continue to do the same things on the training pitch each day and then take that stuff into the game. The system won’t change. We know that will eventually get us there.

“It just feels when we’re on the pitch, we’re just one click away from everything coming together for us.”

The Trotters make the trip to face Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening, coming up against a team stuck in the League One relegation zone but with ambitions of competing for the play-off places with Evatt’s men.

Bolton’s two recent losses have been at the hands of two automatic promotion contenders in League One. Newly relegated Rotherham United, who have been promoted from the third tier on the last three occasions they competed in it, and then early season pace setters Sunderland.

Wanderers’ supporters will not be too disappointed after what has been an excellent start and will believe they can break back into the top six in midweek.

The Verdict

There is no reason for a change in approach at the UniBol, that would be an extreme over-reaction to what are two very understandable losses. Bolton have been one of the surprise packages in the early exchanges of the campaign after sneaking into the League Two automatic promotion spots at the back end of last term.

In Ian Evatt they have a fantastic young manager who will stay loyal to his philosophy in preparation for taking on under pressure Nigel Adkins’ Charlton Athletic. Time will tell if the Trotters can sustain a top six push this season.
