Noah Okafor has suffered an injury blow that will keep him sidelined for a few weeks, and at a less than ideal time for Paulo Fonseca.

Okafor passed a late fitness test to take part in the game against Genoa on Sunday having missed the Red Star match due to back pain. Although he did not start, he came on for the final portion of the game and was unfortunately the subject of a disappointing cameo.

Then, reports emerged on Monday night stating that he had been feeling some muscle discomfort and a calf problem was confirmed. Given that Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah are all out, the timing is far from brilliant.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fonseca will have to do without Okafor for some time because he has suffered a first-degree lesion of the soleus muscle in his right calf. A new scan will be carried out in 10 days, but the Swiss forward risks having to spend a month on the sidelines.

If the fears regarding recovery time are confirmed, Okafor will also be forced to miss the Supercoppa Italiana in early January in Saudi Arabia too. Milan will face Juventus in the semi-finals on January 3, while the possible final against one of Inter or Atalanta would be played on January 6.
