La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Rafael Leao is unlikely to leave Milan in the summer as no clubs seem willing to match his €175m clause, contributing to a ‘paradox’ at Milanello.

Leao is having a tough time at Milan despite reaching double figures for goals and assists this season.

The Portuguese was booed in two of Milan’s most recent home games: against Roma in the Europa League and Genoa in Serie A.

The 24-year-old has had highs and lows this season and according to Gazzetta, no top clubs in Europe seem willing to trigger his €175m release clause in the summer.

The pink paper notes that the amount of goals and assists is in line with the previous campaigns, but Leao has been unable to take a step forward this season and was disappointing in too many big matches.

For these reasons, despite being Milan’s highest-paid player with a €7m-a-year salary until 2028, Leao paradoxically has high chances to remain at San Siro beyond the summer, while Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan have attracted interest from foreign clubs, especially Bayern Munich.
