“The opponent was different, the one from the other night [Aston Villa] was really strong. The result was tough, but as I said, not everything was negative.”

“We’ve completed our preparations in England, which are over. Now we’re preparing for the championship. There will still be a friendly on Saturday, but we’re coming out of this month on a positive note thanks to the players’ efforts. I thank the boys for their commitment.”

On El Aynaoui’s advanced position on the pitch, “It’s a solution; we can’t have a single playing system, but for me it’s always been like that. We tried against Cannes, and it went poorly even though we won. Today against a Premier League team we did well.”

“Ghilardi? He was really good. He arrived this week, and he trained consistently, but he was very positive.”

“Dovbyk? He’s been sidelined, but he’s improving. He’s working really hard. I read that I don’t like Dovbyk, don’t write that, I never said that. I like all Roma players, and as long as they’re at Roma, I think they’ll do their utmost to improve us. The boys train really well, and for me that’s more than enough of a sign.”

On whether Dybala and Pellegrini will be available this week, “Dybala, yes, Pellegrini is longer. We’re in Trigoria on Tuesday, and training resumes on Wednesday, and Ndicka should be back too. I’ve seen some videos of Pellegrini, he’s running well, he’s on the road to recovery, we’ll see with the doctor…”

“The market? Yesterday we had a wonderful meeting with the owners, and they were very positive. There are only three weeks of transfer window, which isn’t long. We still need something in the attack. The owners said some very important things, and hopefully they’ll be implemented on the market. Massara is working hard to achieve what the club wants, in agreement with the coach and Ranieri…”
