The attacking player has produced a lot of shots so far this term but failed to finish his chances. However, last weekend, he picked up his first goal of the season as his side beat Blackpool 2-1.

Now he has picked up his first goal for the Lions, manager Gary Rowett is backing the player to contribute even more when teams return from the international break as he told News at Den: “God knows how many shots he has had, he must be close to 20 attempts on goal and they are all different types of shots.

“To score that first goal will give him that little bit of extra confidence moving forward.

“He has shown, bit by bit, his qualities and what he is capable of potentially. The goal was a nice way to kickstart your Millwall career.

“He’s got that ability to get shots off and he’s got that ability to see where the space is. He’s just a clever player. He showed that at times at the weekend. I still think there is a lot more to come from him as a player, but that only comes with games and confidence.”

The Verdict:

It was always going to take a bit of time at the start of the season for Flemming to settle into Championship football but he will have been pleased to get a goal, and it will definitely serve as a springboard now to go further this season.

As Rowett says, the 24-year-old should now have the confidence to push forward and contribute further to his side’s attacking efforts.

The manager clearly has faith in his abilities and now for Flemming it’s about getting himself to a consistent Championship level after the international break.
