Bolton Wanderers have been linked with a move for Millwall striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, as first reported by London News Online.

The 29-year-old finds himself well down the pecking order at The Den, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it appears that his time with the Lions is entering its concluding stages.

Bodvarsson, who appeared 38 times in the league last time out, is yet to see any Championship minutes this season, making the matchday squad just one time.

Speaking to News at Den, Gary Rowett addressed Bodvarsson’s situation at Millwall as Bolton push for the forward’s signature: “Jon’s been away with the Icelandic national team on a sort of unofficial two-game tournament which he’s scored and done quite well in.

“When I say it doesn’t affect it, there’s nothing to be affected at the moment. We’ve not had anything sufficient enough to decide that we want to let anyone go out the door.

“We’ll have to certainly sit down and give that some consideration moving forward now, of course, being light in those areas.”

The verdict

A move away from The Den seems like it would be of benefit for both Millwall and Bodvarsson himself.

The forward I struggling to get himself back into the first-team picture with the Lions, with Tom Bradshaw and Benik Afobe currently doing well.

Bolton are in need of attacking reinforcements as they try and climb the third-tier standings, and he could thrive if given an integral role.

A lack of regular football has been Bodvarsson’s downfall in recent times, and should a move to League One be sanctioned, then he will have every chance of going on to succeed once more.
