In order to adequately bolster the Manchester United squad this summer, funds will need to be raised to ensure a higher transfer budget and more room for manoeuvre around Financial Fair Play restrictions.

As such, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co. will already be drawing up a shortlist of potential departures whom they believe could recuperate substantial transfer fees, as well as being deemed replaceable or already in a stacked position.

Scott McTominay is thought to be one player who is classed as a ‘very sellable asset’, according to TeamTalk, and will therefore, be made available when the window opens.

The Scotland international, 27, is overseeing his most prolific campaign to date despite being used in a more rotational role than he’s used to. He’s notched a remarkable nine goals in all competitions thus far, some of which have been game-changing/game-winning, while also registering three assists.

Battling with the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount for a starting spot, McTominay has been deployed from the offset in 15 Premier League matches this term. An injury has ruled him out of the past two outings.

West Ham United saw a bid rejected for the Carrington graduate last year after they failed to meet the Reds’ £40 million valuation, and while the board are likely hoping David Moyes’ side reignites their pursuit, it remains to be seen if they would fork out the fee this time around.
