AC Milan return to Champions League action tonight knowing that they must win in order to have a chance of reaching the last 16 with Feyenoord arriving at San Siro.
In the first leg back at De Kuip, the only goal of the game came in the opening three minutes through Igor Paixao. What it means is that Milan need to emerge victorious tonight, and by two clear goals to avoid extra-time.
Rather unsurprisingly, the magnitude of the occasion is not lost on the Italian newspapers today, who have dialled up the pressure on the Rossoneri.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Go Gimenez. Champions League at 18:45. Milan looking for a comeback against Feyenoord.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Milan, risk of failure. Conceicao returns from the funeral of the former Porto president and relies on Leao and Gimenez to overturn the 0-1 of the first leg.”
Tuttosport: “Milan: pride, Ibra and… Santi. Gimenez from the start to fly to the last 16. Zlatan: ‘It’s a final. And finals are won’. Fear for the Dutch ultras.”
QS: “Milan, everything to get through. Champions League, the last 16 is the objective: They must come back against Feyenoord.”
