Former Chelsea star William Gallas believes his old teammate Frank Lampard is in trouble at the club.

Lampard is a fan favorite from his time as a player, and most fans would not want him sacked midway through a season.

However, a recent run of poor results has meant Chelsea have slipped down the league table, and are already looking out of contention for the league title.

While they can still fight for a Champions League spot, Gallas admits any more bad results may mean Lampard loses his job.

Gallas told PlayOJO: "I am a little bit disappointed because I thought Chelsea could compete with Liverpool to win the Premier League.

"But after the last few games I was disappointed, as Chelsea didn't show the character to win against the big clubs.

"I'm also disappointed because when you see the Chelsea squad, it's one of the best and it's really difficult to understand what's going on.

"When you spend almost £250m on players, that means you want to win the Premier League.

"But at the moment Chelsea's position isn't good. They're not performing against the big clubs."

The Frenchman continued: "The pressure is on Frank and he needs to find a solution very quickly.

"As we know, when you are the manager of Chelsea you can be sacked very quickly.

"The pressure is on him and he has to find the right system.

"I hope Frank finds the solution as soon as possible because he's a young manager, but I'm sure he will be a great manager in the future.

"He's very passionate and he knows football very well.

"But I think Lampard's position is in danger.

"I'm sure the board aren't happy with the results which is why I'm sure Frank is in a dangerous position."
