Liverpool paid £29.6 million to Bayer Leverkusen for Frimpong this summer. As Voetbal International reflect, the transfer was already being joked about within the Dutch national team.

He continued, “Of course, we didn’t know what his plans were, but when we heard the club wanted to sign him, Virgil van Dijk spoke to him. He’s a great guy, and I think everyone will like him. He’s very professional, but also a really nice guy in the dressing room. So that won’t be a problem.
“He’s incredibly fast, he’s really very fast. I think we’ll enjoy him a lot. We’ll help him, and the manager (Arne Slot) will too.”
At Bayer Leverkusen, Frimpong made a great impression over five seasons following his move from Celtic. In 190 games across all competitions, the man adept going forward and at wing-back, scored 30 goals and assisted 38.
