Manchester City and Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement for Brazil star Gabriel Jesus.

The announcement confirms the rumours that have been swirling since Jesus’ agent openly discussed the ‘project’ that is Arsenal.

The Gunners have been looking to bolster their attacking options since the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona, meanwhile Jesus has been forced to endure limited amounts of game time under Pep Guardiola despite impressing whenever given a chance.

And it seems after lengthy difficult negotiations, the two clubs have finally reached an agreement for the 25-year-old.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Jesus deal

The announcement came through prominent transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Romano tweeted: “Arsenal and Manchester City have reached full verbal agreement today for Gabriel Jesus. Deal in place after new meeting – been told guaranteed fee is £45m.

“Arsenal are now working on personal terms with Gabriel’s camp – final step to get the deal completed very soon.”

Jesus should add plenty of attacking quality to Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Last campaign he registered 13 goals and 12 assists for Man City, despite starting only 28 games in all competitions.

He’s also played 56 times for Brazil, scoring 19 goals.

Busy day for Man City as Phillips confirmed

It’s been action on all fronts for City today as they also confirmed the signing of Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United.

As reported by Sky Sports, City will pay the Yorkshire club a fee in the region of £45 million for the England international.

Which – if the deal goes through as personal terms are yet to be agreed and Phillips must pass a medical – would be a near enough identical fee to that City will receive from Arsenal for Jesus.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder will look to fill the void left by Fernandinho, the former club captain who has departed this summer after nine years in blue.

It looks like Guardiola is going to be going to bed a very happy man tonight.
