The 27-year-old could become available in the coming days, as Manchester United look to secure a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Manuel Ugarte. Corriere dello Sport detail that United are prepared to sell McTominay to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

As Manchester United now have a deal for Ugarte practically in place, and with Fulham no longer in the race, Napoli no longer face much competition to sign McTominay this summer.

He is not the only Scotland midfielder who could end up playing at the Stadio Maradona next season, though, as Napoli also hope to sign Billy Gilmour from Brighton once the Seagulls wrap up a deal for Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

Also on the agenda for Napoli is resolving the Victor Osimhen situation and securing a deal with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku. David Neres, meanwhile has already completed his medical ahead of a €30m move to the club.

🚨⚪️⚫️ Fulham have agreed deal to sign Sander Berge from Burnley, here we go! McTominay deal off as Berge joins on £20m plus £5m fee, medical booked for the midfielder.
