New translations have emerged to provide important context around Julian Alvarez and his recent comments surrounding his Manchester City future.

The club future of the striker has been in doubt for much of the summer transfer window, with the player indicating to his representatives that he would be open to fielding interest from potential suitors across the European game.

That stance sparked somewhat of a frenzy amongst Europe’s biggest clubs, despite Manchester City’s demanded finances for the forward standing at around €90 million as a complete package, should a club want to do a deal in the coming weeks.

Among those to have been most interested lately are Atletico Madrid, with the feeling being on the side of the player that Alvarez would be open to a move to the Spanish capital, largely due to the lifestyle, culture, and weather on offer in the city.

Speaking whilst away on international duty with Argentina at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, Julian Alvarez has been quizzed on what the future holds for him upon his return to club duties with the Premier League champions.

“There is a lot of talk,” said Alvarez before Argentina’s meeting with Ukraine in France this week, as translated and relayed by BBC Sport. “I am focused here [at the Olympics] because it is a short tournament.”

The 24-year-old continued, “At Manchester City I feel very good, I played a lot of minutes. But we will see after the Games. First, if I can, I will take a few days off. Then we will decide.”

The latest bulk of quotes released around Julian Alvarez come after initial translations of the same interview appeared to indicate a more blunt response from the Manchester City forward, sparking a social media frenzy and a direct response from Pep Guardiola on Monday night.

The Manchester City manager appeared to accept a desire from the player to feature more in important matches when addressing the media during a pre-Barcelona press conference, but also pointed out that the entirety of his squad would want the same.

Furthermore, Pep Guardiola stressed a desire to see Julian Alvarez ‘think about’ his future, whilst indicating that the Premier League champions are currently not yet thinking about replacing the Argentine given the uncertainty around the player.
