Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong has agreed to join Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.

Sport claim the 21-year-old has given a move to Camp Nou the green light meaning the LaLiga giants must now negotiate a fee with the Dutch club, who want €75m.

Barcelona have maintained contact with the player since the summer and plan to tie up the transfer ahead of next season.

De Jong has also met with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and PSG but always intended to give Barça priority.

It is understood the player’s agent met with the Catalonian club two weeks who offered the player a five-year deal and promised to offer a ‘significant amount’ of money to Ajax in order to get the transfer done.

The report claims other interested parties will have already ‘thrown in the towel’ and will only be on standby should the deal somehow collapse.

De Jong, a Holland international, has made 20 appearances this season, scoring three goals.
